We are pleased to introduce to you FitzPatrick employee Mike Guzman and Nine Mile Point's Tyler Cartier. Both are not only nuclear professionals, they are also volunteer firefighters for the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department and were recently recognized for saving a life.
It was Christmas Day, a day typically spent with family and friends celebrating the holiday, when Mike and Tyler responded to a call from the emergency dispatch center requesting assistance for a patient in respiratory distress. These dedicated volunteers not only sacrificed time at home on a holiday, they braved blizzard conditions to respond to the call for help. Their quick actions helped to save the patience's life.
In May, the Oswego County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council recognized Mike, Tyler and members of the McFee Ambulance Service with a Life Saving Award for the emergency medical services they provided. Congratulations and thank you for standing ready to provide emergency care to our community.
Mike and Tyler are just two of the many FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point Station employees that volunteer in our community. They recognize that volunteerism offers a kind of purpose and reward you can't get any other way, benefitting our communities.
