TMI Hogs Help Local Veterans, Raise $8,000

Loud pipes helped save veterans lives on Saturday, Aug. 4. Three Mile Island's advocacy club, Generation Nation, held a charity motorcycle ride to benefit local veterans through Operation Homefront. About two dozen hogs rolled into the TMI Training Center parking lot for a pre-ride rally full of chrome, leather, and nuclear facts.

Event organizers provided each rider with an event patch and Generation Nation T-shirt. Riders from TMI, Limerick Generating Station, and Peach Bottom Atomic Generating Station braved gloomy weather to take a trip to Battlefield Harley-Davidson in Gettysburg.

During the stop, the group presented a check for $7,600 to Operation Homefront representatives. After some additional raffle prizes, the final tally exceeded $8,000. The group had lunch and spent the time talking atoms and service to our country. Unfortunately, a storm rolling in from the west prevented the ride from reaching their ultimate desired stop at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Generation Nation's motorcycle ride was featured on the local news. This was a great way to show the public how our employees remained dedicated to outreach, charitable contributions to community, and volunteerism.
