Byron Generating Station License Renewal

Exelon Nuclear submitted a license renewal application for this facility to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The application was approved on November 19, 2015. We’re committed to producing clean, safe and reliable energy for Illinois homes and businesses for decades to come.

With license renewal complete, Byron Generating Station Unit 1 is licensed through Sept. 16, 2044, and Unit 2 is licensed through Aug. 2, 2046.​
