Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Communications and Philanthropy, Exelon Corporation

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Judy Rader is the senior vice president of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Philanthropy, leading integrated communications strategy, planning and execution for Fortune 100 energy company Exelon Corp. and all its operating companies. She also oversees Exelon’s philanthropic activities, including nearly $50 million in annual giving and the volunteer efforts of thousands of employees across the company. Rader’s team has expertise across a wide range of communications and philanthropy disciplines, including: employee communications, media relations, public advocacy, issues/crisis management, marketing, advertising, branding, digital/social media, charitable giving and corporate relations. Under her leadership, the team is responsible for enhancing and protecting Exelon and its operating companies’ reputations with internal and external stakeholders, fostering employee trust and engagement, and supporting the company’s policy and business objectives through compelling communications and community support. 

 

Professional History

Since joining the company in 2005, Rader has held several roles of increasing responsibility, including leadership positions in communications at ComEd, Exelon Corp. and Exelon Generation, where she served as vice president of communications from 2017 to 2019. In this role, she led the integrated communications strategy, planning and execution for the Generation business, which includes the nation’s largest fleet of carbon-free energy facilities, as well as Constellation, a leading competitive resale and wholesale power supplier. During this time, Rader oversaw communications around the acquisition of the FitzPatrick nuclear plant, the closures of the Oyster Creek and Three Mile Island nuclear plants, and the agreement for relicensing of the Conowingo Dam.

Rader served as a leader in Exelon’s Corporate Communications function from 2008 to 2016, and played a key role on campaigns supporting the Constellation and Pepco Holdings mergers, as well as important legislative initiatives in Springfield, Ill., and Washington, D.C. She served as the key media spokesperson on rates and regulatory issues at ComEd, the electric utility serving Northern Illinois, from 2005 to 2008.

Prior to joining Exelon in 2005, Rader was vice president in the corporate practice at global communications firm Edelman, working with a variety of blue-chip clients, including Kraft Foods, Allstate and Boeing. She’s also held positions at several other public relations agencies.
 

Education

Rader has a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English from the University of Maryland.
